Does anyone know the size of the drain plug on the FLD-DB30618 Fluidyne Oil Cooler?

I tried a M20 x 1.5 and it threads nicely about a quarter of an inch then gets real tight. I went to try a standard 3/4 and definitely doesn’t fit

Based on Fluidyne's website I would venture to say 1/2 NPT. Below is directly from their webpage (LINK) and it claims to have -12 inlet/outlet and a 1/2" NPT fitting for pressure/temp sensor.

"The DB-30618 is a popular heavy duty single pass oil cooler. The 58mm core is designed to withstand extreme abuse while providing excellent heat exchange. This cooler has -12 AN fittings for Inlet/Outlet and a 1/2" NPT fitting for pressure/temperature sensor. Upper and lower mounting flanges make for an easy install. This unit works well for diesel applications where the cooler is to be mounted in the front of the vehicle.

Dimensions: 21" L x 6" H x 3"D
Fittings: (2) -12AN, (2) 1/2" NPT
Oil Capacity: 1.2 quarts
Dry Weight: 12 lbs"

Moral got back to me they accidentally sent me a 3/4” extension . No problem it’s on the way

Hello guy, just updating the thread for research purposes. I got the cooler installed, not the cleanest but would like to touch up painting but you get the idea. I did not shroud it either. The truck has a 3” body lift so I went into the old belly ban bolt holes.

I always watch my gauges and I’m very well aware of everything on this truck, once informed about oil cooling I’ve taken an even closer look at oil pressure since.

Today was 91 degrees I drove unloaded under 80hp tune with varying the A/C, what I’ve gathered was much higher oil pressure throughout the entire powerband. Very significant at lower RPM. Another thing I noticed is cooling temps. Did not raise higher than one tick past the 180 mark.

700-800$ later I believe this will prolong the life of the engine wishing I did it earlier. My next newer duramax (perhaps l5p or such) will have an oil cooler as one of its first mods
