Posted this over on DP, but thought it deserved a spot here also:
I've been running the TurboBrake from Fleece Performance on my LBZ since they first came out. I put it on mainly to help with braking when towing the 38' gooseneck trailer we drag around occasionally. Kinda played with the boost control few times when towing. Raising the boost when getting into hills will help the EGT's a bit.
This week I took a trip from Indy to Athens, AL. About 420 miles one way.
Typically with mixed driving I'll average 18-19 MPG. Straight highway driving will yield 20.x.
For this trip to AL, I pulled the boost control down to minimum. Ran the whole trip 68-70MPH. I checked my speeds and odometer both against the GPS and they were right on.
In a nutshell, for the trip down I averaged exactly 24.0 MPG.
On the trip back the next day, I left the boost control minimized, but did drive a little faster. 73-75. Averaged 22.1 MPG.
I was impressed.
