How hard is it to convert a dually to a srw truck?? The bed swap should be fairly easy, but what is needed to go to a single rear wheel, rims, new axle???

Take off the front wheel spacers, and you will need new front hub/ bearing assemblies. Get new wheels and your done. Not sure how much they cost, but GM made a compisite standard bed side.

Why must I change the front to get a single rear wheel? Is it just to keep the correct track width?

yes. And IIRC, the rearend in the dually trucks are 4" wider. I know they have different length axles.

I wasn't aware that you also had to change the hub assemblies up front. I thought you could just take the hub adapter off and mount up a regular front wheel??? I'm almost certain that's what my truck pulling buddy did. I don't recall him having to change his hub assembly to run the reg. front wheels like he does.

just remove the spacers on the front and your good to go,when i had to add spacers on the rear to move the wheels out so they didn't sit in level with the front tires.the truck is an 05 Chevy 3500HD DRW from the factory.
heres our dually running super singles

how akward do you think that would look with a strait bed on it?? Is the dually rear axle 4in wider total or is each axle 4in wider??
