I forgot to mention the year of my vehicle, which in the title to this post.

I guess my initial post didn't go through. I started my truck this evening in about 20 degress f. I think I may have a bad glow plug, but the truck started. About 30 seconds in the check engine light came on, and it would only rev to about 1500 rpm's. I won't have any code info till later today. Any idea what is going on?

Without knowing the code it’s a crap shoot. But some questions to ask yourself

When was the fuel filter changed last?

Where did u get ur fuel from last?

Most will say they don’t run an additive but did you put any kind of additive in on the last fill up?

Remember diesel fuel gets thicker the colder it gets and if ur filters are dirty it’s going to starve for fuel.

Gets ur code read as well that will tell the whole story. My guess is fuel pressure code and u need to change ur filter or filters depending if u have a lift pump.

Changed the fuel filter in june, and I've only put about 5,000 miles on it since. As far as additive I am fairly new to owning diesels and haven't put any in. Hopefully I'll have an answer code wise in a few hours. I'll post then, thanks for your input.
