Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

If you can find it Kroil is a good penetrant. Not cheap by any means. The vinegar or evap-o-rust may get in there and break down the corrosion. I've seen mixed results online of people using it. Grinder to split while not elegant or fast will definitely get the job done. Just keep a bucket...

Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

400F is a decent number that will keep you below any temper on steel. If I knew the steel number I might be able to find the tempering numbers to get you a higher number. Are you planning to cut the keys off or you trying to get them to break loose and slide off? Have you tried wrapping the...

Compression test - dead piston or head gasket issue?

The big connectors on top of the engine are the Bail connectors I was referring to. This eliminates the fog being fuel. You need to bore scope that cylinder to see what's going on. I agree with others, add oil and it got worse sounds like something other than HG issues.

Compression test - dead piston or head gasket issue?

If you did not pull the bail connectors on top of the engine, you could be seeing fuel being ejected from the hole. Try putting some oil down the glow plug hole and see if that brings the compression back up. If it does, then you may have a weak set of rings. One other thing to check would be...

LB7 Blowing Smoke under heavy acceleration

Have you tried smelling the exhaust to see if it has a fuel smell. I know that sounds odd, but it may help pinpoint the issue faster.

LB7 Blowing Smoke under heavy acceleration

Blue colored smoke would most likely be oil as suggested by the leaking turbo seals. However the ticking is the thing that triggers me to think you may have a valve guide / seal issue. I know my LLY had wear and play in the exhaust valve guides at 160k (ish) when I had them checked. Also had...

    LML total delete

As mentioned, discussions are Taboo. Even if you know someone who knows someone who might have heard about someone, it's not typed on a forum anywhere to protect all parties from the sniffers that troll websites looking for offenders to go after and fine, even though they are not "actively"...

    Seriously?

Not only packing them tighter, but since everyone is now allergic to everything and it causes some type of disease or cancer, they are no longer powdered to prevent sticking while lubricating them for removal from the box.

Difficult to diagnose. 2002 2500 several problems.

What does it sound like, i.e. old tractor, sounds normal? Lift pump putting out, did you change under hood filter? Check the harness plugs on top of the engine to see that none of the pins are pushed back. As mentioned check engine light and codes? How many miles on the truck? Does it have...

    Dynamite oval pattern injectors

I have several different anti seize compounds depending on what I am putting it on. High temp stuff gets put on most things as that seems to be what I have the most issues with. I don't think I have any Copper based, But I have not used any in a while since not working on things like I used...

    Dynamite oval pattern injectors

Reverse the idea and weld the nut on the back side see if it will come out that way. I think I have a driver side manifold in the barn off one of my trucks. Would have to look and see.

    Dynamite oval pattern injectors

You might need to weld 2 or 3 nuts on there to drive the heat down inside that stuck fastener to try and break it loose. Another thing you can try is heating the outer edge of the flange quickly in an effort to open the hole up some.

    truck towing pictures...

The pumps typically have higher filtration than the stock, so I left mine in place SHOULD it be required to bypass the lift pump. I think the stock filter had 30K on it. I do change it but it's more of that one more line of defense should water get past the lift pump or the lift pump grenade...

    truck towing pictures...

I had that happen on the '04. Luckily I was running the AirDog and pulled into a parts store, grabbed a couple of 90's, couple of barbs, and a close nipple to make a bypass so I could get home and rebuild it.

    Harmonic balancer puller for 6.6

Those work great for certain applications. In the auto world, I can imagine belt alignment becomes the issue. Right now the balancer pulley bottoms out on the crank aligning the belt grooves with the rest of the accessory pulleys.

What did you do to your home/shop today?

There are a couple of members of a camper forum I am on that use LA vs LI batteries for inverters. Keeping the amp draw in range is part of the equation, the other is maintaining voltage. Typically the capacity given for a battery is 2x what the safe discharge limit is. Keep battery voltage...

    AC issues

Have you checked the cooling fan on the engine for engagement? Also with the recent heat wave in the south, AC systems are struggling. I suggest you check the stack just to be certain something did not get in there and plug up the air flow. One other thing to check is temperature differential...

What is the number 1 thing you have done to make your truck tow better?

1st thing was learn to keep my foot out off the floor board. After that, 18 gallon boat tank feeding the small 26 gallon tank in the LBZ. I had already upgraded the intercooler.
