I wonder if you are having electric fan clutch issues?
When the truck is idling for long periods of time, try propping the hood open slightly to allow for more air to escape from under the hood?
Is there any way to do the high idle option on a gasser? Increasing air flow and slightly...
With these new computer controlled alternators, if the battery voltage is below a certain level it will not charge. Truck will run all day, but it will not put out enough to charge the batteries.
I'd second batteries as the first place to start, also watch the battery voltage gauge. My 24...
About the only connectors out there that seem to be worth owning are the Pollaks. Instead of the 7 way rv style, Kinda wish the industry had followed the class 8 trailers with the round pin ones.
They all have issues, seems that the round pin ones are hooked and unhooked a lot more than the...
Do those batteries have liquid cooling? Don't think you will pull on them hard enough to need it, but might be worth hooking up the cooling loop just in case you ever pull on them hard with inverters powering something like AC or the house during a storm if needed.
My 04 cloth seats are the most comfortable to date. Even the 06 leather were not as comfortable as the cloths.
The 24 seats are nice.
On the charging issue, GM Field service engineer will be at dealership this week for another vehicle. He said while there he will look at mine to see if there...
I would not think it's as much hardware as firmware. Unless the bus cannot support the speeds, making the older hardware talk encrypted is a firmware thing I would think.
Now if they could program the older hardware with the upgraded firmware, it might be more possible.
According to what I find, the charging parameters should be the same as to when it kicks in charge mode, startup mode, headlight mode, etc. Mine never enters Startup mode for starters, and charge mode is hit or miss.
Problem is the voltage is not following the charging profiles. I've had sustained voltages at 12.3 for extended periods. Really odd is truck for the first 363 days ran 13.6-13.8 on trips between Houston and Dallas or other locations. On Day 364 on the way to Florida it dropped to 12.8...
Well my 24 I have been fighting with the dealership on getting the charging system fixed. I does random weird things where the voltage will vary 12.5 -15.3. I can even get it to drop to 12.3.
Started after the truck was 1 year old and that's what concerns me.
Engine brake is odd for certain...
I guess it's at this point do you really need that big of a truck? The only thing keeping me from jumping in my 04 and going long distance today is the fuel gauge is intermittent. The dash cover is missing, but that does not affect the fact that she runs and AC still works. And for some...
My 24 just went in the shop last week for charging issues. Put 2 batteries in my 04, turned the key and she fired up first revolution (Air Dog Fuel pump does help).
It's got a couple of minor issues that need addressing, but no where near 20K.
Been hanging on to her simply because it's always...

Somehow they tie into several of the key systems in the vehicle so that conventional methods of steering wheel key switch bypass do not work for starting the engine. In either of the vehicles killing power to the ECM (even the LB7 has an ECM) will prevent the engine...
I've had pretty good luck buying from Dmaxstore. https://dmaxstore.com/products/bd-diesel-steering-upgrade-kit-2001-2010-lb7-lmm same price. They offer a lifetime warranty on the front hubs also.
