Well 10p last night (Thursday) noticed temp in house was dropping. bundle up (it like 30f outside) and head into the attic. Found igniter for the furnace was cracked. Removed, brought down, attempted repair by wire jumping the crack, only made things worse. 8:30 Fri morning start making calls...

What did you do to your home/shop today?

Last night lost power for less than 1 hr, fingers crossed that the grid has stabilized somewhat and rolling blackouts are limited to the 1 hr promised before this hit. Another cold snap expected to hit later this week with temps into the upper 20's.

Well of and on since monday morning, been back feeding the house from portable generator. This cold weather winter storm has done its toll on us. Went over 36 hrs straight with out grid power. Got lucky and we started getting grid power yesterday. Not real consistent, and it appears its a...

What did you do at work today?

Josh, love the work you do. If I ever get to build a house, I might have to bribe you to make a trip to Texas to do some tile work for me. I like the no drain look of the flooring and the lipless walk in showers.

You know even Scrooge McDuck had happy days. The Elf will come back out in you, I have trust in that based on the years of posting about how being a delivery elf makes you happy.

What did you do at work today?

Tuesday got call from vendor about building some hydraulic stuff for us that is HOT HOT HOT. Later found out that our client is over rating the need for the hydraulic stuff. Thankfully I do not have to break vacation and design the stuff (not my forte) to have it built for Monday Jan 4th.

Nice buck. I saw 4 last week but only one was possibly a shooter thanks to the conservation rules. Ended up reducing the Hog population by 1 Monday evening. 175 yd shot with 300 win mag, I'm sighted for 300 so it was a hold down of 1' to hit him in the neck and out the other side of the...

Amazon driver = millennial. I just want a check. I think they are all contract employees not real amazon employees. Most of the ones out here appear so lost its quite funny. I think we get the leftover drivers not a route driver. And Tom, I think the new generation of delivery personnel are...

Some real ingenious welder could split a pipe and weld it back to gather over the connecting tube. When said person tries to cut it with a grinder the pipe spins, if you cannot get at it with both hands, you cannot stop the pipe from spinning and will have difficulty in getting through it.

Thoughts on Running ATF with your Fuel

Long time back there was a report on what different additives and oils did to the diesel. The best one was extremely hard to find and expensive, the next best was TCW3 2 stroke oil of your brand liking. Cheap Walmart stuff was just as good as the expensive stuff. ATF and some other oils did...

Checking for proper pinion preload without axle disassembly?

If all you replaced was the seal, then the number of threads should be the same. If you need extra, use the floor jack (been there done that) with the rear e-brake set. Most likely you miss counted but the marks should still align.

If that does not stop them, you might try putting the anti theft bars across the top where they are harder to get at. Being on the bottom, they are quite easy to cut, up at the top, the floor pan and heat shields would pose the biggest problems deterring theft. Also on those chains, let them...

What did you do at work today?

I've read somewhere that Grumman or someone similar makes the UPS trucks. They buy chassis from whomever at the time, have the body put on them, and when finished because of certain looks to avoid fraud (and most likely liability) they have them destroyed when useful life is over. UPS at one...
