    Check those hood springs.

I had one on either the 04 or the 06 that lost tension. I found it laying on top of the inner fender. Put it back on, and even after giving it an extra turn of tension, it was not right and ended up replacing it. Once they start working out of the groove, keep an eye on it, might be a fluke...

What do you guys do for home shop oil/fluid storage?

I have several of the Amsoil 2.5 gallon jugs, nice 3" openings to pour the oil back in through, and since its how much the truck holds, I just drop them at wally world or the local O'reillys. I keep a couple of empty ones for doing oil changes in her car and other stuff.

    The dummy

In order to access the mega fuse, you will need to remove the fender brace and lift the entire fuse block cover off not just the customer service cover. I will try to get a pic form the 04 to point out what needs to be removed, but I cannot actually remove it right now as truck is in storage.

    The dummy

Did you check the main fuse in the block? You probably have to pull the fender brace out, then lift both the service cover and then the big clunky cover over the fuse block to get down to the mains. Since this is also where the main input from the batteries come into the clock, check for power...

Installing connecting rods with motor in truck?

Dont forget you will most likely need to remove the flex plate to pull the upper pan also. I got extremely lucky and found a socket that would fit the head of the bolts and allow me to remove and retorque them.

Installing connecting rods with motor in truck?

Its not possible to change the pistons without 10X more headache than its worth. Plan on pulling the engine and removing the heads. While you have the heads off, have them checked. Mine needed 16 of 32 valve guides at 160k. Also while you have the heads off, if you have not already done so...

Sorry to hear that you got out of the hotshot business. If it truly was a blessing for you, then I am happy for you. Keep the paid off iron. Either you get back into it and will need it, or it cons you nothing to have it when you need it for something else. I know one of the other members...

    Changing RV batteries

1st question, are the batteries shared starting and house? Not certain if its a pull type or motorhome by description. 2nd question is are you boon docking? If not, then do you really need that many batteries? Both of my RV's had single batteries. At hunting lease we did a little boon...

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

Luckily I work mostly behind a desk chasing a rat all day. Company had done what it can to keep us busy. The field crews have been working. Had a few jobs push, but mostly crews are working as clients have shifted to 50% work force on site working 14 on 14 off with the off being furrow for...

What did you do at work today?

Modern "Techs" are just parts changers. Mike is a "TRUE MECHANIC" as he can diagnose, take apart, fix or replace the one thing wrong, put it back together, AND IT WORKS RIGHT. While there are a few good young mechanics out there, they are few and far between. Most probably don't even know how...

What did you do at work today?

I am thinking spray wet teflon, and forklift races. :D Or the kid in me says sock races, greased pig catch, or small furry animal chasing. :D

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

From what I understand about closing the parks its about the safety of the rangers, not the people. Rangers will still have to work to keep the parks up with regular maintenance, but its the MORONS that may have been in contact with the virus and show up at the ranger station to checkin and...

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

Unfortunately it happens. Guy only knows one thing. What he did not know and was probably not written anywhere is the fact that there were 3 pallets Be glad you got the first 2 with no issue. Sucks that yo had to make a second trip to get what should have been done the first time.

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

GF is sick hopefully its just a head cold as no fever. I was down with sinus / allergy last weekend. Still have a bit of cough and congestion. Went to grocery store this morning, when I got there they were only letting people in about 6 at a time (guess to avoid social crowding in areas)...

How's everyone doing with this virus crap?

Better watch that, next they will say the hot coffee carries the virus and you just gave it to yourself. I work in the construction industry. Our offices are on skeleton crew worldwide and shut in countries where mandated. Our upper management started with the if you are sick stay out to...

Question: Axle Block on 5th Wheel. Good or Bad Idea?

Instead of a subframe, could you make a set of tubing spacers that move all of the perches down and replicate the existing perches? That makes it a bolt in plug and play option that can be removed. You could either weld it up yourself or have it built by a reputable shop. If you do choose to...
