L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

I’m not sure besides seeing if you can pull the transmission rearward out of converter.

L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

It’s not possible something happened to the torque converter or something in the transmission that locked it up tight causing the engine to just quit. You wont have oil pressure on a stopped or stalling engine.

L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

Now that is really strange. What all did you swap over from the original? I’ve rebuilt from salvage hundreds of duramax trucks and never had a second engine fail.

    Wrecked LBZ Frame Swap

Yeah you are correct for the front cover. I disagree on the mounts tho because i use the same attachments on my engine stand for all of them up to the L5P which is different.

    Wrecked LBZ Frame Swap

Hey good work. What i have in mind when i do this is using an LML block and rotating assembly so i dont need to move the frame to motor mount. Also if you would get yourself a set of LML motor mounts the holes would line up for you. Block side is same bolt pattern from LBZ to LML.

    2wd chassis to 4wd

With the lift kit holding the driver side of diff the pass is all you need to worry about. And as stated it is more than just holes in the frame. It have a sleeve welded in the frame with rubber bushings that the studs of aluminum piece go through. What was circled in the above pic is the motor...

Street Build? Cast or Forged Pistons?

That’s probably why I’m much more active over there. Here i dont have much to comment because its solid info from everyone almost and a lot more discussions that are above my level.?

Street Build? Cast or Forged Pistons?

Hey guys. There is a guy another forum claiming that LB7 pistons were forged and not cast from the factory. Also claiming that with 20% over injectors and bigger turbo on an LML you gotta run forged pistons, that cast ones wont last. A moderator and i told him the opposite but he remains staunch...

Spindle nut socket for 2005 2500HD

As James said unless you have a dually you dont need to remove hub to inspect or change the park brake pads. Just slide the rotor off and it’s all visible. If you have a dually tho then yes the hub needs to come off even to change the rotar.

    LBZ ECM Confusion

My thoughts are (tell me if I’m wrong) that it will work and the only difference would be the operating system.

2007 Lmm rebuilt motor, will not run

This is very true. I found out from experience. I didnt get sensors swapped but i did get the wires mixed up when I reloomed it.

L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

Wow thats a nice looking truck. What color did you use? I’m liking it. Glad your maybe on the home stretch with this thing. I know exactly what all you did as I’ve done many of them.

Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

Everything looks good besides that hood. Mounting the coolant reservoir should be easy to mitigate by loosening a few bolts.

L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

This was what I suspected from the beginning of the thread. I would guess your valves are fine but a few bent push rods. From the description given and my experience doing salvage rebuilds I suspected the gear on crank turned. Most times we would have put another motor in at that point. Those...

    Wrecked LBZ Frame Swap

For motor mounting Werli Fab could surely put something together for you. All it would need to be is a L5P engine side with a LML frame side in there custom mount line. The bed bolts that dont line up are the next forward from rear ones right? If you do get the L5P running in the classic body...

    Wrecked LBZ Frame Swap

That would be an interesting build. I’ve been toying with the idea for some time now. What I haven’t been sure of is how to make the classic ABS work with the bigger brake system of the LML and up trucks. On other problematic point for me is how to mount the LBZ in a LML frame as the LBZ mounts...

Did the ECM appear to have any external damage?

L5P will barely start, then die Please Help

Seemingly the one that breaks is the clear rear one in the exhaust stream. Don’t ask me why except that it is because of the material its made of.

I think you are on the right path. Yes i have seen the internals of the exhaust filters being broken in an accident as hard as yours was. Another thing so you have the ground connected between engine and firewall on the right side? Just something i thought of.
