Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

Adam, try a gun shop or local AC shop for the Kroil. I have seen it in both of those places before. Long road so far and still to go, but she does look good.

    WWYD? Turbo time

Since it's not your daily any longer, have you considered cleaning the vanes? IIRC there was a vane upgrade that could be done to the stock unit as well. Don't know how much you want to put into the truck and what performance you are looking to achieve.

What did you do to your home/shop today?

Anything on the OSB is better than raw wood. OSB will suck up the moisture from the room which leads to it sucking up the lighting. A nice gloss finish will help reflect the light. Lighter paint helps even more.

    Starfire Fluid Built Trans

Back when I had the trans in my 04 rebuilt by Mike and his crew, I asked about running Amsoil Torque Drive. He said hold off for at least one change to allow the frictions and steels to bed themselves. Once the bedding happens, you can make the change.

Bought, wrecked, rebuilding a 2009 LMM

Have you checked with socal diesel? https://shop.socaldiesel.com/duramax-01-04-lb7/camshafts/standard-firing-order-camshafts/duramax-camshaft-3388/ they offer both standard and alternative firing order and 2 specs in each. Spec's not listed on their site and they are really proud of those...

    Seriously?

What I hate is they pull the filter as a courtesy, but then want to charge you labor to replace it. If they would just charge the filter price since they already did the labor, I'd be more likely to go for it. What got me the other day, they charged me $20 for the labor to do an oil change (I...

    Weird find

Once you get a library of parts, it becomes a "bespoke" business with no standing inventory other than raw materials and printers. Only print what you have orders for. When you make enough money to pay off the first printer and all supplies used, invest in a second one if you feel demand is...

    Weird find

If you 3d print one as 2 pieces then put a pin through it as a "flap" so that it can close that might work. Or instead put holes in it, but you run into the issue of larger items getting stuck behind it.

What did you do to your home/shop today?

We had a natural gas line added a few years back and the plumbers use stainless flex line. Last year we had the AC replaced. Guess either the fitting on the gas line was over tightened or the line got jarred along the way cracking the nut that holds the end to the flex and we had a super slow...

To minimize coil on the deck https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08V1X5VZ8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 put the plug on the camper up where the pin box connects to the trailer. When you get to the destination, unplug and store in either the truck or front compartment.

    BBC teardown and diagnosis

Is the engine using coolant? If it's not loosing coolant, steam cleaning the cylinders is out. If it is using coolant, have the block water jacket vacuum checked to ensure there is not porosity in the casting, an internal crack, or a pin hole in the machining between the water jacket and the...

    BBC teardown and diagnosis

That's an odd one for sure. If the head and the piston looked the same, I'd agree dead hole(s). Wonder if the carb is so small it's starving those 2 cylinders. Note that hole 3 and 2 are evenly spaced, 3 between them in firing order. By chance did you temp gun the exhaust when it was...

    2002 Rear OEM'ish bumper

2003 duramax 2500 HD 4 wheel drive Strange noise

I made a seal driver tool by taking the seal to the hardware store and buying a plastic bushing fro PVC pipe that fit over the seal. this gave me the internal clearance to not damage the rubber hump sticking out the back. If there is no vertical play in the front driveshaft yolk where it...

    Code readers for 2024 L5P

See if EFI will pull the data stream on the LM2. I have an Ultimate and had to call banks b/c certain things were not working. I was told the L5P in select trims uses different communication protocols with the rest of the truck hence why I could not see certain things.

    2018 L5P Engine Miss

If the electrical architecture is similar to the LLY's, when one injector experiences an issue, the controller shuts down the entire set connected to that controller. More than likely as mentioned one of the injector connectors is the issue. I did not Ice Pick mine on the LLY, but instead used...

    LBZ Fan Clutch

What part of the shroud is missing? It sounds by your first post that the section behind the fan (LBZ encapsulated the fan in the shroud) making it almost impossible to change the belt was removed. Post pictures as this will help determine which portion is missing. I did remove the section...

    LBZ Fan Clutch

The 2886 reached full lock a bit sooner than the stock fan and was I believe a bit stronger locking. One of the biggest issues is cooling stack plugging. You would be amazed at how much crap gets stuck between the stacks that you think you washed out. It's a bit of a pain, but pull the top of...

    LBZ Fan Clutch

I ran the 2886 on one of my trucks. Good fan, temps stayed in check. I believe Adam (malibu) ran the 2886 on his hot shot rig for a long time before going spool in the summer. He had good results, but when he was having summer heating temps and the fan clutch would not come on fast enough...

    Trans flush or something else?

I'm going to guess if the slave cylinder is getting toasted you may have more issues than needing just a flush. You might want to investigate the throw out bearing and the clutch. Bad throw out bearing can generate a lot of heat. Slipping clutch (even a little) is pure heat generation. Those...
