Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

It's an easy thing to isolate and figure out the contributions, just separate the pump return from the injector returns and plumb it in after the sensor and compare logs

Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

I never stated there was an increase in temp from a lift pump? The increase in fuel pressure at the cp3/cp4 is what generates the heat. There is a slight cooling effect caused after that by the small orifice in the fittings to the rails themselves, but the heat shed there is directly related to...

Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

You should log a max effort stock motor lml fuel return temp. Also, look at the fuel limiting temperature in the files. Of all of the generations.

Yeah, the factory fuel temp sensor measures return fuel temp. Log it.

Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

I have put a couple dozen Fass pumps on sub 550hp lmls and only 1 truck, a 2016, did not require a sump in order to keep the new Fass pump happy. As far as the older ones, a lot of dyno HP has been made with a big single lift pump and factory pickup. Over 1000hp but unsure how much over. The...

Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

What do you mean by "self prime"? I haven't had an issue with filling and priming a Fass system since they switched to their "signature series" pumps. Before that, yes, they cavitated easier and usually needed either a full tank of head pressure or some fuel in the filter to create enough...

Need help with lift pump sump, nowhere to install

The LML pickups do not flow as well as the older ones, and the older ones are prone to efficiency losses as well. All but 1 lift pump I've installed in an LML required a sump to keep the pump from cavitating. Call Fass and they'll tell you the same thing.

    Opinions on motor build

Block was washed, magnafluxed, mains checked for wear and alignment, decks cleaned up, and torque plate honed to use a std bore mahle cast piston. They did very minimal work to it, I'll get you some bore measurements if you're seriously interested in it.

Front and rear main seal tool

For the price, the MA tools are worth it. Or you can go the route I did and buy a GM kit off ebay for cheap-ish.

    LBZ HVAC Issues

There is a blower motor driver/resistor. Lots of times it is a loose connection at the plug that causes the issues, but I have replaced several bad drivers. Another symptom can be a wonky blower motor speed when control is set to auto. The control unit is least likely to be your issue.

    Wash off Trans fluid

ATF is mineral oil based. It acts as a solvent, which means it will take the carbon based undercoating off your frame.

Oil feed restrictor for ball bearing turbo?

Google is your friend... Straight off Garrett's website, "An oil restrictor is recommended for optimal performance with ball bearing turbochargers. Oil pressure of 40 – 45 psi at maximum engine speed is recommended to prevent damage to the turbocharger’s internals. In order to achieve this...

    Billet Injector hold downs???

I have stretched many stock bolts at 550hp. Bent stock hold downs at the same power. Also make sure the sealing surface in the bore is not eroded after an event like that. I have had to replace heads due to erosion and grooving.

    Factory Bearings ?

I think that in our relatively slow rpm v8 application, the thicker film is better. In higher rpm applications, and in inline engines, the tighter clearance and thinner oil is free HP. Oil temp and upstream heat loading seems to have more effect than clearances on bearing life in our engines and...

    Torque Converter Questions

The rattle is a common trait with Goerend converters. So much so that they have a disclaimer in the box and on the order form. Luckily they have been fairly easy to work with in the last couple of years to get it quieted down in situations where the customer will not tolerate how loud they are...
