    Just took out a newer transtar 3 disk "towing converter" from a lb7 dually that couldn't get out of its own way and would heat up the fluid to 230 in less than 5 miles of flat towing. Straight Junk IMHO. I'd put in one of Phil's single disks before ever recommending Transtar.

    Do you have someone nearby who is an experienced mechanic who works on a lot of duramax? The suggestions of things to check are all going to require diagnostic equipment.

    I have seen a few LMMs beat the crank reluctor pin up in stock form, without any other engine damage and cause misfires and no starts...wicked fun.

    You don't need to jack up a wheel to do it. You can also activate the same process by jamming the brakes on a grassy surface or a gravel road if you do not have a good diag tool

    My point is that your statement that unplugging the ABS unit will allow him to determine if it was causing the issue, is false. As I said before, the valves themselves can mechanically stick, or the fittings can leak, or the motor seal can leak. Unplugging the connectors tells him almost nothing.

    There's 2 parts to the abs "unit"...the logic controller/solenoids and the motor/valve body. They are physically separate and the only possible way the electric part of it can be a problem in this case, is if a solenoid is energized enough to pull a pintle to a valve and close off that circuit...

    I know what he's using. But whether the Motec or Bosch MS can control shaft speed with fuel fast enough in these cases, I am not sure of. Maybe an electronic gate, properly sized, would be fast enough?
