December '25 Chat -- The Fat Man Cometh

Everything around St Louis was nuts yesterday, and it wasn't even that much snow. Took me 4 hours to get home from picking my daughter up from school. About 15 miles.

The high vis led light bars are great and all, I'm all for high vis, but the need a nighttime setting that tones it down a bit. They are SUPER blinding at night.

Advice on what transmission to buy?

I would suggest removing your phone number from your post and pm it instead.

November '25 Chat -- The Saints come marching in -- for turkey and the fixins!

I read that somewhere this morning. Sounds like they have imagery of the engine departing the wing. Crazy that it's still a problem. You'd think maintenance crews would follow the instructions to a T after the crash in 79.

    What fluid for transmission.

There was another one that Mike swore by, but I'll be darned if I can remember what it was.

I honestly don't know if 'deer whistles' actually work.... Maybe they actually attract the deer [emoji15]

    2007 LBZ into 2005 LLY

Without going back and finding my posts (it's been 'a minute' - afaik, I was among the first handful to do the swap), the main points were need to replace the accelerator pedal and harness I believe, and move one or two things in one of the under fuse block connectors.

    2007 LBZ into 2005 LLY

It's actually relatively easy. Search around for posts by me on the subject.

October '25 Chat -- Ghouls and Ghosts Galore!

Denny's is arguably better than awful waffle house.... My wife talks about a time in her college days when she ended up at a waffle house, went to go to the bathroom, and there was a 'couple' 'going at it' on the floor.... [emoji2961]

Bought and sold a 2016 Colorado

"Permanent" DTCs are only "Permanent" in that they can't be cleared with a scan tool. The only way to clear them, unless you're talking about a T87 that you're playing with on the bench ([emoji1787]), is to actually fix the problem and once it completes enough cycles without failure, it'll go away.

2001 Sierra 8.1 crank no start then start

I wouldn't think it would be the FPR - if there was a bad regulator that didn't allow pressure to built fast enough, I'd expect an extended crank, not a crank no start on the first try. He had taken it to one of the local dealers and I guess they thought it was the fuel pump and replaced it, but...

2001 Sierra 8.1 crank no start then start

My Step Father has a 2001 Sierra with the 8.1/Allison that has only like 80k on it, lived in a garage most of its life with trips to Vermont and Florida mostly. A few years ago, IIRC, it started throwing a crankshaft sensor code, and I replaced the sensor for him. Everything had been fine since...

2002 LB7 How to disable Glow Plugs to use start fluid?

Did any LB7 actually have a GPCM? Weren't they just some kind of 'dumb' relay setup, unlike LLY and later? But either way, find the main power feed for the glow plugs and disconnect it, or the glow plug fuse and remove or disconnect it and you should be good

    Transmission issue or wiring??

Correct, I wasn't referring the trans connector. It's not unheard of to see people putting dielectric grease in connectors to keep water out though, and I don't know that I've heard of it causing issues..

HVAC blowing hot on one side and cold on the other with a twist

Resetting the actuators with a Tech 2 does it too :) I have a feeling it's just that both are going bad and I'm just lucky in that they're flaking out at opposite times somehow. I did get lucky and found that the PS actuator is semi-reachable if you pull out the left passenger side vent, and...
