01-10 steering box redhead ,PSC ,OEM

If that Cardone box is anything like the PSC, I am not impressed. Mine is totally trashed after only 6,522 miles in just under 2 years. Going back to a RedHead, which I could at least get more than 10,000 miles out of.

    How do my angles look?

Agreed, if you're having to remove the jounce bumpers you don't have much upward travel left. Plus like Tom said, the jounce bumpers are necessary for a good ride. They provide non-linear force to change the effective spring rate in the upper parts of the travel, and improve the ride/response...

bad or going bad injectors?? im a noob.

It is hard to tell in advance if a junkyard ECU is locked. If you can get photos of the truck it is coming out of, that can often give you clues the truck was tuned or not. I have had good luck so far with all the ECUs I have bought being unlocked.

bad or going bad injectors?? im a noob.

A LB7 with stock injectors is extremely tough. Obviously not indestructible (as evidenced by the previous engine), but I doubt you've done anything to it with a little fuel knock. Since this has been happening the entire time with the replacement motor, I would personally start with swapping in...

bad or going bad injectors?? im a noob.

So if I understand the timeline, you bought the truck with a bad motor (snapped crank), and dropped in a used stock 80k mile engine, and have since put 35-40k miles on it? If so, when did the knocking on acceleration start? Has it done it the whole time, and you are trying to get to the bottom...

bad or going bad injectors?? im a noob.

Was the previous engine built? If the previous tunes were for a larger set of injectors or different cam, that could easily cause a stock engine to rattle while accelerating. Some LB7s read as low as 20-25 g/sec at idle, but for sure it should not read 2. If you clean it and it reads somewhere...

    Finding my drag truck

Heck, Tier 2 phase-out didn't even mandate EGR. That's how we built my 2003 Suburban with a federal LB7 and got it through the CA referee. But I think EGR was allowed, not mandatory, for both Tier 1 and Tier 2 phase-out. Hence why it could fall off and still pass ;) Sent from my FlashScan V2...

    Finding my drag truck

All the LB7 OSes I use report CVNs accurately to the V2 and Tech2, but I only run 2003/2004 (late LB7) OSes. Though even then they sometimes just do weird things lol. Glad I don't live in CA, but that does sound like something that could be worked around as you said, or with perhaps some clever...

    Finding my drag truck

FWIW, this thread has all the info on the utility bed I bought: https://www.duramaxdiesels.com/forum/threads/another-03-lb7.88425/

bad or going bad injectors?? im a noob.

Since you have a scanner but no EFILive, you could just log it during the knock and see what is going on. I'd log - RPM - fuel pressure (desired) - fuel pressure (actual) - main timing - main pulse width - pilot timing - pilot quantity (mm³) We could look at those values and see if things look...

    Finding my drag truck

Not 100% sure, since I could barely get the company to admit they ever made one, let alone sell me replacement keys. I've only seen a couple in real life and they were both 9', but these things are a dang enigma LOL Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

    Finding my drag truck

I have one of the beds pictured. Took me ages to find one. They are actually only for the 9' cab+chassis, so be aware that truck will have a different frame than a normal one. IIRC it was made by Royal truck bodies until GM, Ford, and Dodge sued their ass off for trade dress infringement...

    E35B Post-Flash Issue - Am I alone?

Can they replicate it locally? Or do they not have a compatible ECU on hand. It seems really reproducible from what I've read here. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk

How to tell if it is the power steering pump or the steering box?

X2, just use ATF. Switched all my vehicles from "real" power steering fluid to ATF years ago and haven't noticed any change in steering, good or bad. But like Jason says, it is one less fluid to have to keep on the shelf.

    A/C line leaking at fitting

I have also replaced a couple of those, even have the special socket. I usually just put a new stock-style one on, figured the first one lasted 15+ years, why bother changing it? I have schrader valves fail all the time too, I don't think the rubber ball is inherently worse. Like Ron said...

    Boost leak/injector questions

Yeah, those injectors are long gone from what you describe. The good news is they now make the updated SAC-style injectors for the LB7, which seems to take care of the short injector life. You can get them in stock size if you don't want to run a tune ("SAC00") or a lot of people go with the...

    Rebuilding my lb7

That's the truth for sure. It is equal parts exciting and annoying to compare the parts I had to buy 8+ years ago for my build vs. what you can get now to hold the same power.

    Body control module issues?

Agreed, that sounds like a power or ground issue. Check for corrosion or damaged wires under the fuse block in the engine compartment. Look at the condition of the ground near the driver's side body mount under the door on the frame.

    Boost leak/injector questions

Highly likely the injectors are toast. You can diagnose them further if you want. Balance rates are part of the equation, but you want to look at the main fuel rate on hot idle with the A/C off and in park. Should be 7-10 mm³, generally as the injectors fail they leak so that drops. Seen some as...

So I bought a blown up truck yesterday

Welcome! The LB7 gets a bad rep, but it's my favorite generation. I'd recommend doing head studs when you're in there, and with some SAC injectors you'll have a nice reliable truck without any emissions garbage to worry about. Sent from my FlashScan V2 using Tapatalk
