    Head Gaskets, why 3?

From GM, the service manuals aren't cheap. I recall them being about 500-600 bucks??? I've got a set and they come in handy for quite a few things. Not that its worth much, but what I did when I replaced my head gaskets and had the heads trued/ground a bit was use the thickest gaskets. I had an...

    It's Official I have a Broken Crank

Got better photo's of the fracture surface on the crank? I imagine the surfaces are pretty beat from rubbing together once they split though? Might not be enough "evidence" left in the appearance to tell much of anything.

Anyone street drive with a hoodstack?

I would do it if my truck wasn't a daily driver. I don't care about the redneck thing... I believe one of the best ways to do it is probably kind of like a hood pin... get the stainless or chromed pad riveted on the hood and cut the hole in the center of that. 4.xx" hole, a 6" pad? I dunno...

    Are my injectors finished?

Any word on my last post? I'm planning on checking them this weekend and then organizing to do what I need to do. don't get much time to work on my truck so I gotta have my things in order. Thanks for the help

    Are my injectors finished?

Cool. I believe I tried to disable injectors one at a time in the scan tool and it didn't do anything? Does it only work on LBZ's? I've got an LLY. Maybe I need to give it another try. Tell me what I should be looking for in balance rates and return rates. I've never looked at return rates...

    Head studs and HTT

You will likely be fine. But FWIW, I redid my headgaskets and installed studs with the motor in the truck. It was very simple, they only tricky thing was putting the driver side head on. you need to put the one lower back stud in the head when you set it onto the alignment dowels because the...

    Are my injectors finished?

I checked at the dealership for injectors just for shits and giggles. 924 bucks a piece... the dude in the parts line behind me almost shiot haha. Especially after I said I need 8 of them. Anyways, I didn't buy those obviously. I'll look into some remans from a bosch dealer this week. Then I...

I put a hole in my firewall below the A/C condensor.

    Cut thermocouple wires...

I was of the understanding that increasing the length of the wires on a given pyrometer would throw the reading off because of resistance increase with longer wire.

    Driver's side exhaust Manifold

I have no heat sheilds or insulation left anywhere under my hood. Except maybe on the actual hood.

    Couple Q's about the HTT

I got a box of parts too. There were alot that I didn`t use and I had to get a few extra`s to do up the oil feed line. Just to connect the line to the turbo I had to make my own 90°. Thanks god HTT `did away`with that piece of shiot dipstick. The stock dipstick works just fine. Just remove the...

    Driver's side exhaust Manifold

The RDL manifolds and uppipes will be like putting a set of "headers" on your truck. The EGT's should be much, if any higher on the drivers side. The same amount of fuel gets burnt, same amount of energy into the exhaust. Only diff is maybe slightly more back pressure on the drivers side. I...

    Catipillar motor.

DT466... might be able to find one of those in a school bus for cheap. Lots of guys use those in sled pull tractors dont they? I recall getting an email of a tractor that had a 466 and the headgaskets didn't blow on it... it split the block completely about 3" below the head.

How Much Diesel is Burnt at Idle?

Probably not as big as an issue with the DMAX's. I'm gonna say the advent of HPCR and fancy electronics and advanced injectors keep pretty good control of combustion in the cylinder. The issue I feel would be greater, and is the same with a lot of motors especially diesels and especially larger...

    Catipillar motor.

My recommendation was going to be a 3406b, because you can get those with a rating closer to what he's looking for. might be able to turn it up a bit to where you want too. Only thing is that they are a tad bigger and heavier than the 3116.

    Couple Q's about the HTT

I keep forgetting that the LBZ intake manifold is quite different. You would have to change everything from the intake runner back to do what I'm thinking. It worked really slick on my truck though. An LB7 Y-bridge and I used an LB7 pass. side intercooler pipe plus some custom shiot to hook it...

    Catipillar motor.

You can get standalone controllers from allison. How come your going with a 3116, get it cheap? I figure there are plenty of better motors to go with than that one. Another thing I'm thinking is that it's going to be mega nose heavy with a Cat up front.

    Couple Q's about the HTT

It didn't come with a black 90° piece of 4" steel tube? 2 piece downpipe? LBZ kit must be way different. And I actually think that the HTT sits 1" closer to the firewall...
