    A cam can certainly affect compression.

    High crankcase pressure is caused primarily by combustion pressure leaking past the rings. Rings are never going to seal up the cylinder 100% but should not blow that much. You should do a leakdown test. Compression test won't tell you the whole story. I doubt oil is your problem. Sent from...

    Shut it off, pull the glow plugs out and look for fuel spraying when cranking it. Really checking balance rates would be your first step. That thing is really smoking bad.
