Just Deleted the truck - straight 4" pipe from Banks 3.5" downpipe back - S&B intake - wondering if anyone has upgraded turbo or added larger injectors and injector pump with upgraded lift pump - wondering about maintaining drive ability & fuel economy versus any of these additional upgrades - any thoughts or experience would be appreciated - Thank you

I would like to be at 625 hp or something like that - and I agree my next step is a built 10 speed I have seen them for around 12k - I don't really know diesels as I am a hot rod guy I build and sell hot rod trucks building a 59 AWD 3100 chevy fleetside short bed currently with a 6.2L supercharged motor built by Wegner it made 1115HP on the dyno- so not sure what the next step is? I am 57 so I am not a kid anymore beating the heck out of vehicles but would love to have a bad diesel that put you back in your seat from the light from time to time but I can still drive everyday - what would you suggest? And thanks for the reply

Cant build a 10 speed to be reliable at that power. They will need to be rebuilt frequently depending on your right foot and towing. I’d like to say i dont abuse my truck too but its very hard to keep my foot out of it and ive had my 02 for 18 years. A full billet vb, tcm tuning, upgraded clutches and a better converter will help but it still wont fix the E clutch issue

To get 625, you can do it on a modded stock turbo and large tune. It would be better on your pistons to run a much larger injector (60-100%) and a 10mm or 12mm cp3. Your intank pump will support that just fine

You can do a far larger turbo like a 469 or 472 and it will still spool extremely fast at 1500rpm due the high flow heads you have. A cam makes a huge difference too. You can go well over 625 but your trans will hate life.

The 10 speed was a big let down… i have a 2020 that was going to get compounds, injectors, and so on back in 2020 but after mike l showed me the lack of space to get more clutches in the needed areas, we both realized it wont last under high torque

That transmission doesn't even hold up with stock tune from factory - I was thinking about upgrading to the Next Gen Diesel Upgraded valve body to start - if I upgrade injectors and injector pump - I was already looking at the CP3 - (thank you for confirming that) and maybe a larger turbo but not extreme where would you say it is relatively safe? 525 - 550HP

Rwhp or crank hp?

Also, the trans holds stock power just fine. The 2nd gen valve body in late 2020-2024 wear the low feed limit valve and high. The next gen eliminates those BUT no one has any clue how thats going to affect clutch longevity. In reality, it will more than likely shorten life. Better off using the sonnex repair valves. Add in the ratiotek kit and should have 0 problems on stock power.

There is speculation that the 1st gen valve body does not have these issue due to aluminum quality. Mine is one of those and had 0 wear on the low feed limit.

I love how these companys think a full billet vb is the answer to it all and so many people are not informed correctly

HP at the crank and thank you for saving me some money on the valve body - I read that those problems came from cheap chinese aluminum also - I really appreciate the tips!
