    My block heater started make this weird noise a couple of months ago, it never has before, so I was a little concerned. Well, about 2 weeks later the block heater quit working. I replaced it an the new one doesn't make the rattle/humming noise. But seeing as this thread is over 2 years old...

    LB7: Better mileage?

    Today I drove to pick up an RV on the way I got 18 mpg and on the way back with 7000# RV I got 11 mpg. Being new to the diesel, is that about what to expect or can I do better? It is stock with a 4" pipe from the turbo. Ideas?

    Thanks for the warm welcome. I own a small auto and motorcycle repair shop...we also are a firearms dealer... hence the screen name, but up until now I had no interest in taking in any diesel trucks for repair, but I guess since I now own one there won't be any excuses, plus I might learn...

The LB7's have a hose from the tee between the valve covers to the alternator bracket, which has a cavity in it, the drain to the oil pan has a PCV screwed into it and a hose going to the block. The breather pipe comes out of the alternator bracket at a higher point and then goes...

    Hi all!

    Just picked up a 2002 Duramax, a rust free Oregon truck. This was an unbelievable find for northern WI. where they toss salt on the roads if someone says snow! I own a small automotive and motorcycle repair shop up here, haven't worked on many diesels, so hopefully I can get some questions...
