Possable? I have removed axle shafts on jeep unit bearing front ends, unit bearings separated at high speed. Does the axle shaft keep duramax front bearings together?

I've been told you can use large bolts, and washers to simulate the clamping force that a cv shaft would put on the bearing. I would do it if it were a temporary/emergency situation, just to get back home.

Depends on the year of it. Sometime in early 08 GM upgraded the hub bearings and made them all the same. So if you have say an 09+ you can leave the CV shaft out no problem. And replacement bearings from GM I believe are all the new style where both 2 and 4 wheel drive are the same. Theres a TSB here somewhere describing how to identify the difference between the old and new style hub bearings.

I bought mine from Dmaxstore and when I ordered it, I ordered one for a 2wd. They sent me one for a 4wd. I still put it on and have not had any problems yet.
