Just a random thought I had here at work-

Since the weak spot in my LBZ is the pistons, is it possible to simply weight match the pistons and swap them, say with a set of fingers pistons, in frame? Like pull the heads and oil pans, unbolt rods, pull out, put new piston on. Done.

Is something like that possible?

motor has to come out to do it or drop the trans but yes, i know of many who have concidered that before. the factory motor isnt a balanced rotating assembly as it is already so doing what your saying shouldnt change much.

Now I could be wrong. But aren't the Mahle motorsports pistons that Fingers uses lighter than LBZ pistons. You would have to take weight out of the crank I believe.

Joe id just save yourself alot of headaches and just pull the motor you will be able to work on it so much easier and in the end you will have the job done faster. To drop the upper oil pan with motor in the truck you have to drop the front diff and to drop the front diff you have ti remove the center link......just pull it,tranny would have to come out also.
