November '23 Chat -- Deer Hunting, Thanksgiving and Snow

Almost turkey time. 25 days to go. My work provides free 1 frozen turkey, 2 chickens and an apple or pumpkin pie for all it's employees. Yum!
We used to get turkeys.....but those were taken away about 5 years ago. Just a cheap, multibillion dollar company I guess.
Oh....I forgot "Leaves" in the title. We have a 65ft Catalpa that overhangs the driveway and front yard. She likes to drop her leaves after the first frost (which was last night). She will do this literally in one day, too. There were 4" of leaves in our driveway this morning when I went to work, and 8" when I got home.
Three hours later, no more leaves. Moved them to the backyard and mowed them in.
Next year, however, we will not have this problem anymore. The tree is being removed this spring.

Oldest son got married 3 weeks ago. Him and his wife are in contract on a house as well.

We used to get stuff too. As corporate took over and bigger companies moved in it slowly dwindled down to nothing. The best was one year we got a $20 “gift card”. The year after that it wasn’t a gift and reported as income.
The last company I worked for did the same thing... They would provide a gift card to local market. Then they took it away.
In my case, as management changed, they started taking more stuff away yet the upper management didn't seem to have anything taken away... I miss some of the people I worked with, But I sure don't miss how toxic things became... They would Value a new employee off the street with no experience over a Tenured employee with Experience, Loyalty, and a good work ethic.
My company always gave out a 35.00 gift card for thanksgiving and Xmas. So a single card

My employer is still family owned, so some of the old traditions are still around. $50 to a local market, box of apples and some cider
