Has anyone had any experience with other stand alone systems (for race applications)?

I saw the stand alone that ATS had at SEMA. Better cost than the BOSCH but have not heard anything else about it.

Haven't heard anything about the ATS standalone. Joesixpack on CompD is running a Nira on his CR Dodge. I also spent some time with Dominator Diesel's CR when they put the Bosch 15.1 standalone on. Are you talking about running one for a Dmax?

Yes - not having to worry about torque mgmt, defuel, etc, etc.

The Bosch 15.1 will do just about anything you could want but the price tag was ridiculous, I think somewhere in the neighborhood of 11K when they bought it for their truck. The Nira looks like it would do everything someone needs for a lot less IIRC around 3K, not sure on the price though. There are a bunch of threads talking about some of it's capability on CompD if you search Nira.

You can do ANYTHING you can dream up. Its completely standalone, no torque management, no limiters if you dont want, fueling till 90 billion RPM, you name it.

Out of curiosity, what issue are you running into with the OEM Bosch configuration?

Steve I am far from knowledgeable in regards to electronics I just know that there are limits in the factory ECM and a standalone unit will be able to get past those limits. My cummins buddies constantly talk about such, Scott at DeStroked can answer your questions about standalones

Yes you can turn those off but that won't eliminate defuel completely. Data log fuel delivery parameters and watch those around shift points. It will still defuel.

Simply put, the Bosch ECM is awesome and the engineering that goes into the programming/monitoring/feedback is exceptional for the intended purpose. EFILive makes that more accessible.

For track only vehicles it is overkill and a pain to have to go in and undo/override all of the strategies, limiters, etc.
