MA700 rattle at idle

Have an MA700 trans that has a rattle at idle. Only has 20k miles on it. Fresh fluid and filters aswell. I messaged Eric @ Merchant, but waiting on response. Posting here to see if i can one quicker!

Make sure your trq converter bolts are tight!

Does it go away in drive and reverse? Just rattle in park and neutral? If so it would be in the converter

Yeah almost goes fully away when in a gear and when moving its gone. I double checked that the bolts were all tight on the converter.


Could a cracked flex plate do this? If so wouldn't the truck not be able to move?

Yes, cracked flex plate will do that-- and will be more noticeable at idle.

Trans was dropped out, apparently I didn't lock tight the flex plate bolts and they got loose. All better! Thanks guys!

You mean the converter to flex plate bolts?
