Well I've got a 2012 lml at work with a broken crank. Waiting to hear back from GM if the ecm calibrations are valid. Wondering if anyone else has seen this?

I've never heard of that.. Not often does that happen on any stock truck, and even then the tuning hasnt gotten to us for that kind of power to do that..

Haven't heard yet but I can't imagine they are going to cover it. I don't think it had anything to do with the mods but if they see the ecm has been moddified you're all done

The bad part is it was probly on a small tune and the guy just wanted rid odd the dpf
Yeah, it's a 3500 and the customer told us afterwards he put the parts on for his towing and fuel mileage. It's just shit luck like all the other cranks that have broken in the past. This one looks to have broken at the back though, because I can rotate the flywheel about 1" without turning the engine

i have seen one that broke. it was a 3500 that had a ton of miles (don't remember exactly how many) and was driven hard through the mountains with a big trailer. crank snapped in the middle. truck was completely stock.

im not sure how it works with the automotive dealers, but i work at a cat dealer, and if a truck comes into the shop that had the dpf removed we cant touch it. and we have to make sure it is equipped with the proper emissions equipment before it leaves the shop

I still don't think power levels have much to do with the cranks breaking. Either a manufacturing defect in that one crank, harmonics or oil breakdown causing a main go out is my theory.
