whats the best way to get the chrome part of the bumper prepped to get it good for painting....i am not a chrome fan by any means, and after seeing this i am definitely painting my bumpers yall's look awesome

I would recommend maybe having the chrome bumpers sand blasted to give it a good texture for the primer and paint to ad hear to. Ulimatley there needs to be a bit of texture for the primer and paint to bond to. The chrome would simply be to smooth. That or maybe taking a fine grit soft pad on an air grinder just to lightly scuff the surface. Just some ideas man:thumbup:

Take them to the chrome shop and get them dechromed.

thanks for the info, i might try it out on a spare chrome piece before i go doing it on my bumper. just wanted to get an idea of how much i would need to scuff it up before it would be a good enough surface for it to stick to,and not have to worry about it flaking or peeling off a month or two down the road.

When I bed lined my chrome bumpers I just took a palm sander with some 80 and 40 grit and scuffed the hell outta them then primed but bed liner sticks a little bit better than paint

If your doing this to an LMM you can buy the stuff without the chrome. I am having mine done right now. I'm doing the bumper and bumper ends. They cost me about $150 with shipping and $150 to have a body shop paint them. This way I still have the chrome stuff if needed.
