Headgasket question

Speaking of needing help. I have a Question about Head gaskets on a built motor if any one can help?

LBZ .020 over bore with Racecast pistons. Forward edge I have .008-.009 Piston protrusion and .006 on the rear side directly over the pin. Running standard head studs if it makes a difference. I think I was .0030-.0032 mains and .0024-.0026 rods on my clearances.

Only looking for about 600-650 Hp. What Grade should I go with?

Plus, a C gasket takes into account most any variable when it comes to protrusion. Protrusion beyond a C, Id think you'd want to start checking other parts, like the rod, piston or crank first.

No worries. I originally thought that was the Monthly BS thread with all the thread derailment.

So to answer all the questions, Yes I got the standard C as that is usually in most kits. Not a problem as I had no Idea what was needed until everything was machined and mocked up.

I want the engine to be as efficent as possible. On the Gas side of things, The Quench does make a noticable difference. Not sure if its the same in a diesel.

I had seen some questionable things posted in various places so I thought it better to ask. I would rather do it 1 time than be disappointed making a mistake or worse off having to do it over in the truck if it caused an issue of sorts...

We have never had an issue keeping it tight at those power levels. Cold starts seem better and mpg definitely doesn’t suffer from tighter quench. I would be putting A on if I was ordering gaskets/availability

I am looking at getting these ones.

Right 613646000

Left 613646500

They List a GM Grade A at 0.95mm thickness

0.037 x 25.4 = 0.9398mm Basically 0.94mm

Of all places, Rock Auto shows them in stock. Couldn't find them anywhere else.

left is 58.79
right is 92.79

Not sure why the difference left to right but whatever.

A lot of stuff through Summit seems to be mfg direct order with a lead time. I've never experienced unnecessary wait though
