I have been told that the axils don't get their strength until they have been "set"... I have also been told that the axils don't get their optimal strength until they are yielded anywhere from 90 to 180*. Did you "set"/ preset the axils before you went to a pull?

This was what I was told when we installed aftermarket axils in another truck. He said 4x4 boosted launches, hook it to a tongue heavy trailer then 2x4 boost launch it. IDK Just what I was told????

The thought process is twisting them too hard too fast, and they just keep on twisting. :D

Well back to the drawing board, the axles didn't hold up like I thought they would. After one pull the passenger side yielded about 90 degs, and the driver side yielded 360 degs before it snapped clean, about 3" from the outer end. I will post a couple of pics later.

How hard did you heat treat to on the 4340 shafts?
