I recently got a new (to me) laptop, loaded the latest version to it, registered, and blah blah. When I go to flash I'm getting a wont connect message. I can see that the V1 box is communicating with the truck and I know the USB works. I've tried a couple different usb cables and no go still.

FWIW, I've never had to remove fuses to flash and the cig fuse should be good, charged my cell on the way home.?.

:(

you may have to install the V 1 software from the disk. I had the same problem at spring fling with my computer when I Tried to use a friends V1 to install a tune on his truck. the cable was lisenced for his truck but my lap top didnt have the software for the V1 installed cause I did the same thing for my V2 and just loaded the programming from a downloaded file.

Go to EFI Live.com forum and get the newset update. You want build 659. Build 620 (7.4.1) has some issues with the V1 cable. Kicked my ass last night. Trippin told me to down load the new build. I did and everything worked again.:D

I thought I had the newest one. Just did it two days ago.

How can I tell the difference between 659 and 620?

...and removing it and installing from the CD didn't work.

if you open the tuning tool, then click the " help" tab, then click "about" it will tell you the build number so you know where your at

Removed 7.3.x and installed 7.4.2 (build 657 not 659?) and still not luck.

If I just try and get the scan tool to link up a cable error 31 is given. I searched DP and the EFILive forums and both came up empty.

Try-

START menu <All programs <EFIlive V7 <Documents <Flashscan V1 <Updating USB drivers.

Then just follow the directions. Piece of cake...
