So there are those little metal cylinders/rings that go into the block to "locate" the head on it and hold the gasket in place...theres 2 per side. In my box of parts I found two that are the same type of ring, but bigger than the ones that go into the block deck. ANyone know what they are?

thanks
ben

Extra parts are good. Less weight means you go faster!

And after you build a few cars, you have enough leftovers to make a ride-on mower or something.

:D

Not the trans pins, right?

Check the rear cover at the trans like Pat said, I think there is also a big one left of the oil pump. There is also some that locate the rockers to the head as well. Flip the rocker assembly over and look for 4 (IIRC 4) total per side/per head.

Brain damage typo... 2 per side 4 total. I would say it's a big deal if after you put it all together and it made a difference in how everything lined up.

If they aren't in you'll lose sleep over it. I would go back and put them in.
