I'm not usually one to make a post like this, but this is something that has bugged me for a long time. Cummins guys used to always call ARP studs 425s and 625s, and it has always been somewhat of a pet peeve of mine. I wouldn't bring it up, but I'm seeing it more in the Duramax world now too. Maybe someone who uses this terminology can explain why because I don't know where the 425 designator came from unless someone just thought it sounded good. It makes no sense to me, but if explained, maybe I can get over it.

Well, if it is a cummins thing id say; Because it sounds cooler and, syllabication is easier than saying ARP 2000:D

Never heard anyone talking about 425's before...I was almost excited to see a new product, if I could reach thru the screen, Josh..... I'd bittkick you :buttkick: and then run like a little bitch:roflmao:

Good question. I don't have a clue actually. Just did about 20 minutes of research and couldn't find a reason why people, including myself, have refered to them as 425's. I must have picked it up from online reading.

Never heard of 425's  I just referred to them as the cheap ARP's
Me too. Either that or standard ARPs.
Not even a little bit. It does nothing to explain why they call them 425 studs. I know the difference between the studs, but it drives me crazy when the Cummins mouth breathers call the cheaper ones 425s (no offense to you, Mike).
