I am stock as stock with a tune and a lift pump. What does it take to turn these tires in 3rd gear with proper rpms for truck pulling. Am I out of my mind for thinking I can turn these?

4.11's/4.56's,, or more power:) I have pulled with 35's and a stock turbo, fuel system and 3.73's and did pretty good at local pulls, but I think 33's are better suited for the factory 3.73's and 450 - 550 WHP.. There are a bunch of guy's on here with more Knowledge in the regards of sled pulling then I though so maybe they will chime in?

IMHO around ohio with 3.73's stock turbo, workstock setup i would much rather run a 35 for ground speed purposes than 33's although both will work good.

Agree, I would run the 35's for ground speed. A lot of times 3rd gear and 33's you will max out the rpm going down the track where the 35's will give you more ground speed in the middle of the track. If you are going to drive on them you won't have to worry about them biting too hard at the big end of the track.

for workstock i would say you would want it anywhere from 3200-3800 rpms. anything over that and your not making power and just puting stress on the valve train.

:thumb: Around 3800-4000rpm as long as you can get it that high. Like ecc said it will probably stop making power somewhere in the rpm range so it won't pull any higher.

About what RPM are you seeing stock push rods bending on the Duramax? Fleece is going to the chromemoly pushrods for their 454 for it's intial rev map from last article I saw. He wants to see big R's on that thing like 7k I think it was. I don't know if they can hold it together very long at that stress level. It's great to see them try.

Ha, I tried 4th. Gulp.... There is a reason they call that HERO gear. ROL It went from 4500 and climbing to 2700 and I lost a ton of momentum. By the time it downshifted, it was way to late. The allison has a huge delay on the tapshift, it isn't instant like the older gear shift.

Trust me. It isn't instant on the old gear shift either. Ive tried it many times. Thats why I went with 4.56 gears and a TQ unlock switch
