Still hearing the chirping only when its hot though.

Sounds like a knock in the cab and somewhat outside

The turbo has a vibration, When you shut it down and put your hand on it as the wheels stop spinning theres a vibe.

Also have a little more smoke than normal on the highway.

Does it feel like the turbo as a whole is vibrating or the actual internals? Like when the motor is completely off and not rocking can you still feel a vibration or anything inside the turbo? My buddies truck makes a chirping noise when he gets wayy into the boost as well, hes got a 4088. Mike you have my phone number you can call me today if you need to before 10 or tomorrow after 330. Let me know.

Oil was perfect on Friday when I left, gonna check it a minute

The pics are my injector balance rates, NOTICE the RPM, one pic is at idle in park, the other is at 1600 in drive with foot on brake.
gonna go check idle while in drive right now

If your thoughts are injector.... here is what GM has to say on it... found it in this cool PDF doing some searching:

Balancing Rates
This will show the amount of fuel being added to or taken
away from each cylinder during normal idling. Normal fuel delivery
to each cylinder is around 1 cubic millimeter (mm3) for the
pilot injection and 7 mm3 for the main injection.
Balancing rates are available only during idle. These numbers
tell you whether or not you have a possible compression problem
or possibly an injector that is stuck open or closed.
Once the misfire is detected, the balancing rate of the cylinder
that has the miss will be slightly higher in mm3, or may be
as high as 12 mm3. The misfire codes (P0300s) will set only in
the first 90 seconds of engine operation and will set only when
the balancing rate of the “missing” cylinder goes above 7 mm3.
The normal values that should be seen on the balancing rate
screen will range between -2.4 and +2.4. These numbers will
move around constantly, based on the crankshaft speed.
Suspect a possible problem when the balancing rate of a particular
cylinder starts to go up in mm3. An example of a possible
problem cylinder would be a balancing rate of 5 mm3 or so.
Once the numbers start to creep up, the cylinder is progressively
getting worse in performance.

No oil in you PCV catch can?

catch can is not in truck yet, but no oil in the end of the pcv lines

rail pressure at idle OK?

rail press looks good

that is a stock CP3 correct?
yes

Oil look, smells, tastes like oil, no diesel or coolant in there.
Coolant it good too.
dont have a way to record sound, not sure if you could hear it anyway

Whats the going rate on a motor build down there in so-cal?

That sucks , makes you crazy crap like this .

Is performance or boost # down at all ?

Johnny

Johnny, everything power wise feels normal, boost levels, egts are where they have been. Turbo is making a "non" correct noise, and theres a good knock. I think I may have 2 problems.....

Gonna pull intake off the turbo and see if theres any play or anything awkward, debating if I have enough time to do it now or tomorrow after work.

Ive seen two d-maxes here with cracked pistons and bent rods. Both knocked but had very bad engine shake, compression was way low and smoked lots of white smoke at idle. I really dont think thats your problem but you never know..........
