In my 2002 the radio clock is getting so dim during the day you can barely see it... During the night it's fine. Not sure if the display is going bad, or it's a sensor that's going bad. before I started tearing into the radio to see if I could find a bad solder joint, etc. I thought I would see if anyone has dealt with this. I didn't find anything searching through the forum.

Thanks,

It doesn't respond to the dimmer switch (I replaced the dimmer switch a year or so ago too). Nothing else is affected, just the radio clock display...

Thanks,

Those units have vacuum fluorescent displays. Just Google rejuvenating vacuum fluorescent display and you will see many articles for it.

I turned the lights on and off, and ran the dimmer switch up and down today to see what the response was. It definitely dims when the lights are turned on (it's not the ambient light sensor keeping the headlights on all the time). I think it was dimming with the dimmer switch (so dim I couldn't really tell). It looks like 2004LB7 probably has it pinpointed...

Just google it, lots of choices to repair. DIY or remove the cluster and send it to a shop. IIIRC one of my buddies sent his in and it was like $150 or less to have it completely gone through
