noise with door open or hood open

I’ve tried to google this but what is the rod on the turbo that moves when you open and close the doors or open the hood? And why does it do that?

Sounds like vgt actuator. Previous generations of Duramax used engine oil pressure to control the vgt. On these engines the sweep or self test could only happen with the engine running. The l5p uses an electric actuator to control vgt. I'm not sure why it sweeps every time you open the door or hood but the reason for the sweep or self check is to keep the vgt freed up and working.

Yeah it’s weird you can hear it when I open the door then like 30 seconds after I close it you can hear it again...
