J/K not gonna disown him. I know a few of you own them, so what do you think? He is looking at a 2011 Bighorn 3500 SRW, 4x4, 47k miles. Price is 38,900 I know he would like to get a Chevy, but a little harder to get used around here.
Might as well add the VIN#
3D73Y3HL3BG582489
Not sure on Ram Models, but comes up as a Laramie. Wanted to findout if it has the Aisin Trans tho.

Good trucks!! Best low end torque of the diesel engines I've been around. Tows like a champ! Very comfortable and well designed.

Not going to be fast, don't get carried away on the HP or the head gaskets and auto trans will take a dump.

I think there were a couple recalls on the front steering components. Check that out. Death wobble!

I like them, my brother owned a 2010 Laramie mega cab. Tons of room and very classy interior. :thumb:

I love mega cabs... Just got my new 15 mega last week. I feel imo that the Cummins is made to work and I LOVE towing with the RAM.

The AISIN transmission came out in 2013 and newer trucks... 2012 and older have the 68RFE auto.

He will probably be ok without a programmer. Question is; did the former owner have one on it.

are they really that bad? My brother has a 2012 ram 3500 srw. Stock trans and he made 494hp and 1065tq on a mustang dyno. He had it tuned and deleted the day after he bought it. So far so good...

My brothers trans was still holding but he went through 2 head gaskets in 40k miles (second had studs and new head). That trans is very expensive to make it hold any respective power.

Mines been fine so have countless others it's lived at 500rwhp since 200 miles.....

To the op stud it long as the gasket is good. If not there cheap and easy to do a gasket. Delete it with a h&s if it isn't already and tune the trans and do a fass and drive the hell outta it.. we have 3 of them they tow awesome and drive just fine.

6.7 is a good engine. I drove the hell out of one for a couple years. Allison trans work very well behind them.

A good motor in a ok truck. We owned one at the barn for a couple hears it wasnt bad had interior issues and it did seem to run out of steam in the mountains compared the lml, lbz and even lb7. But it was all stock but deleted no tune though. If the price was right imwould get another for a work truck

If it gives him any weird codes or electric issues look closely at the batteries and cables. It is crazy the amount of issues we've fixed by just replacing batteries or cables. They hate voltage drops.
Also not a bad idea to use the exhaust brake often. Unless there has been an update recently the Cummins ecm does not exercise the vanes regularly. Using the brake keeps them free and cycles them. If not cycled they can stick. And disassembling that turbo for cleaning is not really a fun job.

fwiw I have seen a few pretty high mileage 6.7s that have been worked hard without head gasket failure. Ones approaching 500k the other has over 600k. A lot of others at 150-200k
