Manifold vs headers

I believe on sustained, high rpm applications that tubular headers will yield power gains. I’ve not seen any documented power gains between manifolds vs headers on DMax engine.

Has anyone tried to make a longer set of equal length headers? Or would we even have room to fit them? All I see is the log type headers manifolds. I read the article and what caught my eye was the drive pressure difference

We tried "spaghetti" headers a long time ago. Everyone that tried both them and the log headers gave us mixed feedback.

Very enjoyable read thanks for sharing. I’ve always wondered why even “headers” for these trucks were still a manifold style.

Rick, those are sexy and I want them :woott::roflmao: let me go rob a bank.

I own one of the first sets. They've been in multiple trucks and seen a lot of heat. No warping or cracking, and the coating is still perfect. As far as performance, I never got to try them back to back with a quality set of "log" manifolds, but I'm certainly willing to if I can get a set to test cheap enough.

sounds like he did an 8 into 1 (the right way, not the bs way i see guys call it). now THAT makes a significant difference when you line up the cylinder pulses in order.

Here are some pictures of them.

If you could even Dyno against a set of regular manifolds. Just looking to see if there is a drive pressure difference and power difference like on the LS motor.

Undoubtedly a drive pressure difference, but because there are so many variations of long tube headers - different tube volumes, shapes of collectors, flow characteristics, etc. It's hard to rule out much of anything. If you had 3 or 4 designs of headers to compare with 3 or 4 designs of log manifolds, then you could form a generalized opinion of either one

The tubular headers that Randy Overton runs is made by a lad up here in Ontario, Canada. John Gleason is his name. Gleasemanufacturing.com is his website.

I looked at his Facebook page, I don't even think I could afford to email him!
