I usually don't go past 3400. You can run whatever you want to 4K but you are not doing yourself any favors by doing that. Ideally I think if you go 500 rpms past peak power you are doing everything you can do.

I would do some datalogs to see where you're actually shifting at now. I was running stock WOT shift points in my 01 OS, which were 3200 iirc, turns out it was actually shifting at 3050 to 3100 on my big tune. On my tow tune it was shifting spot on at the WOT set point, but the big tune it was shifting 100-125 rpm low. I always thought it seemed like it was shifting in the power instead of at the top of it. Moved them up to 3350-3400, and it's now shifting around 3275-3300 which moved it up to where it feels better shifting(don't think it helped my accel any, but it did make the shifts feel not so abrupt).

TX of course
I think I set mine to 3600 in Tow haul. In an attempt to utilize the power I have, but not make more TQ. I'm in rob bending territory.

If you're trying to cheat death, then raising them up to 3600-3800 is a good way to help. Stay way away from the torque.
