Early allisons same internally as 2015/16?

I understand sensors changed going to the T87 controlled allsions, but can an older allison 6 speed be used if the externals sensors are swapped? Or is there other changes internally?

The other lml ones, like 2011 to 2014. Or even a earlier 6 speed say from a lmm?

11-16 should be the same beyond what you have stated. LMM will need a valve body swap/internal harness to make it simple. might be something else im missing
