Diff free play

Noticed when checking diff lube that the driveshaft will rotate about 1/2 “ against the ring gear. 2019 3500 with 30 k on it. This seems excessiv, anyone have the same or advice? Thanks

No it’s not. That’s all free play between axles splines, spider gears, ring gear and pinion. Your rear end will do the same

Proper inspection would be to pull the front diff cover, put a dial indicator on the ring gear, hold the pinion solid and rock the ring gear back and forth to measure back lash
