Density Altitude (DA) is a good way to measure the oxygen available for combustion. DA is not as good as SAE Correction Factor for analyzing vehicle and engine performance. The weather parameters are the same but the equations are very different for temperature variations.

Where DA affects the turbo diesels the most is turbo selection, and torque converter selection. Anyone who has run Bandimere or LACR in the summer can attest to this. Can't spool up on the line.
But after that, it doesn't affect too much else, since we are normally fuel delivery limited and have no A/F ratio restrictions. But like Kat said, we've been using the Computech unit for about a decade, IIRC, and love it.
