Thank you for the tags and my apologies on the delay, I was pretty sick last week with some weird cold/flu (not COVID) that had me drained of energy last week. Good news is I lost 8# so that's a win!

I have not shipped to Germany but I have shipped packages to Sweden so it can't be that hard. I would just have to declare what the package is. I believe the recipient is responsible for any import fees as long as it is shipped that way but I would have to double check. 100% doable tho.

Its all ok, there is no real delay. Healthy is more important. Its correct i am responsible for the import fees and taxes. They be always fast on that here. Sounds good, so it sounds like I simply would ship it like a normal UPS package and any fees etc would be handled once it lands on your end.

yes you only have to ship international what means you have to declare the parts for import (what type of part and the price) as this is necessary for the authorities to calculate the taxes and import duties

We decide we will open the engine against the advice of the engine builder and at least check the valve gaskets and all wear parts in the upper area. Depending on what we find, it may be fine or we may have to consider a complete overhaul. There are only a few steps left to get to the upper part of the engine. It would be foolish not to check here. I have asked two other engine builders here in my area. Both of them only disassembly the engine for overhaul. They also say if you have no problems then leave it closed. If the engine could be removed quickly and disassembly wasn't so time-consuming, I would certainly agree. I'm sure Murphy's Law will kick in if I don't do it.
You need to be patient if you want see what condition we find as the Engine will be the last we touch. First we will go on with the front axle.

I like to hear you recommondations for this
The usual around i have in my mind like gaskets, lifters, ARP Studs, maybe ventils grinding
I rule out a warped or cracked cylinder head for the time being.
The planning of a cylinder head may entail further steps. I once had the pleasure of having to overhaul a warped cylinder head on a 4-cylinder gasoline engine of my Volvo 745 16V...
All this want i give to the enginebuilder as it is timeconsuming - anyway now we do it ourself and the money we spare will go in tuning.

The Rebuild of our 6.2 Dieselengine by the enginebuilder with all recommondated improvements was complete bill 15382 Euro. 10882 for all parts (only block used, all other new) and 4500 Euro for wage. The Duramax build had taken more wage as it is much more work on disambling.
All said it was very expensive but we only take high quality pistons, bearings, gaskets and the special wish for ARP Studs, Main stud girdle, Valve cover girdle, Serpentinenbelt with 2 alternators (Military Truck), Fluiddamper, High Volume Oilpump, Balance Waterpump... a lot of expensive Parts - but we want this and the costs was ok for us. The Enginebuilder does a great job.

The same will be with the Duramax. I may wait some months longer but at the end i have a renew, reliable engine. First intention was driving until the first failure but this is not our way to handle a Vehicle for daily use.

Last Post in March....
We dont cancel the project, we just was very busy
We had to move with our horses to a new rented pasture.
The former location was after ten years quit by the farmer
He build a new Horse Business with a high-end stable for rhich people
We dont fit in that concept neither want we pay 690 Euro monthly for each horse.

We had to pickup all our equipment (Dry paddock, stable electric, water ... electric fences and more) and we had to build it up at the new location
This was 3,5 months hard work. There was no more time to go ahead with the trucks.

Beside this i had also an accident with a deer with my Volvo last month.
It was my first deer which i kill on the road.
The repair was done in a shop as i have an insurance for that.
I got a Hybrid Toyota for that time. I thought hybrid should be a good choice for future, but it isnt.
About the fuel ratio i couldnt find an advantage as i my way to work is about countryroads and highway around 35 km one direction.
It was not cheaper to use the toyota than my old Volvo C30 Diesel... (until 50 km/h is electric on, about 50 km/h will be use the gasengine) which will last longer as any electric vehicle, now 17 years. Show me any elektric car which is driving still with his original engine/battery after 17 years... The fuel economy is great if you be able to hold back your foot on the gaspedal. You can reach 5,5 l /100 km. Unfortunaltey i am havent such a selfcontrol. This little Volvo have much power and make as much fun. So i deal with a fuel ratio from 7-8 l / 100 km. I know you measure it in a different way....

The most damage is not to see. The frontbumper come new, the front grille and the right headlamp. 2800 Euro ... a fact of plastic build cars.
I have an insurance for that - so no extra costs for me.

Glad to hear everything is ok.

We have the same problem in USA. They Push Electrification, But the infrastructure is far behind. It also is not that cost effective.

For me it was my first expierence, i got the key for door opening as inside is just today only a startbutton same thing like our Volvo XC. My C30/2007 use still a key... Well i push the button but nothing happen 😡felt a bit stupid as i didnt figure out how i can i drive from the parkinglot. So i need to go back to the shop and ask why that damned toyota not start. What a shame for me the car was already on but electric. I should just shift and use the gaspedal (automatic transmission). 🤣
A lot of electric gimmicks inside and a lot of what can failure. The Toyota CHR was a 2023 model.

Hybrids - fine. Electric - not fine. Thats my opinion.

Glad to see you're still around. You got to be close to getting the truck done.

I also dont want only electric. With hybrid and gasengine is it more independent to be mobile. Gasstations are here enough around, electric stations are less.
Beside this electric is not a green energy. Still it is served by atomicpower and coal

Unfortunstely we are far away to be done with the Sierra. Sure he will be fast on the wheels again but than come all the timeconsuming body and electric work, not to forget the engine, transmission and TC need also a bit "love". The chevy should be first complete there are just some trailer electric and engineelectric to do.
We have with the chevy stop for moving horses with the issue that dacota digital not shown the correct gear by shifting the 4l80e.
Next Saturday i hope i have the mood to dig in that...
