I can feel the dipstick bottom out in the pan just before it gets fully inserted is this normal? 2008 LMM, I did remove the tube and the dipstick would fully insert without any resistance so I am pretty sure it is bottoming out

So how does one go about "calibrating" a dipstick, I had to cut both the tube and stick down for this application and just copied the error that was already there when I started.

Maybe this will help? Looks like according to the latest post the full oil point is 2.5 inches below the block.

Easiest way would be to insert an uncut tube and dipstick then measure the depth below the pan rail. You could then mimic that with your cut version.

Thanks, that's what I started with, also that would be pretty difficult now that it's stuffed in the chassis, for now I will just assume it is reading low and bring it over full a little bit
