About a month ago a friend of mine decided to finally do something with a truck we bought from Mark@danville a few years back. We didnt have time to do anything with it for Rudys truck jam last month, but we were able to get it put together last week for Diesel Truck Wars in NC this past weekend. It was a 2wd truck that was converted to 4x4. We put a stock lbz engine in that I had here at the shop that had cracked a piston and the cyl wall was "decent" in still. Ball hone and a used piston back into the hole. Put it together with new headbolts and dropped it in the truck. Everything else we used was junk that him and I had sitting around from old trucks/projects/partouts.
The engine setup is a stock lbz long block, S476/87/1.1 single turbo, 60% injectors (had 225s but never had time to get them in) and dual pumps. Everything this else remained OEM.
The transmission is a 4l80e that I built. Its still built on the conservative side just as a "trial" to make sure it would be okay. It just had a 4340 billet input and a rollerized billet fwd hub. The output shaft is rollerized, directs are dual fed properly etc. Has a suncoast 4l80e multi disc billet 13" converter. We have a pcs controller for the transmission.
Complete interior stripped, all harness's stripped from truck. my employee made the engine full standalone harness and still use a factory ignition key to start/kill the engine. Bed is all chopped up, fuel cell/battery/lift pump is all located at the back. Has rear shocks relocated as well.
We put the truck on 4 corner scales yesterday and with driver it weighed in a 4879lb. The panels are still all steel as well and all glass still in the cab.
Unfortunately we tried to beat Jesse's "stock engine record" but the engine didnt like the first shakedown pass yesterday. We were still on a 2150uS tune and it popped the piston half way down the track. But we still managed a 6.55@105 with a 1.54 60'. The next tune was 2650uS but unfortunately we didnt get to try it. Over all a fun project we threw together. We are gonna figure out what we are doing the engine this week and see if its possible to make it out anymore before the track closes. If not ill update the thread as we make it lighter this winter and add some more power
