I'm finally swapping to MikeL's 6sp trans cooler, and I remember reading his fuel cooler advice. The idea was to move the stock Allison cooler up above the new Setrab, and run my fuel through it. Can I just run down to the Parker store and scare up the above fitting, or will it leak? I seem to recall that the stock fitting is o-ringed and uses a washer, but I am running 12psi not 300 ;) Will this be ok, or am I going to leak? Thanks in advance! - Wally

So i used an old 6 speed cooler from mike years ago to make an oil cooler on my samurai (matter of fact, i might add one to my tracker now that i think about it). i just bought a hard line from oreillys, cut off the rubber parts and bent the metal lines where i wanted them to go. they are 1/2" ID iirc. then just hooked some hose on to the ends of those and hooked them to the samurai oil filter adapter. It might be easier to do that than to try to find those adapters but maybe someone knows more on that than i do (highly possible)

That will work. Be carefull when removing fittings from stock cooler. Use 2 wrenches. The cooler is a cheap PS and will bend very easy. The fittings are known to gall so I would heat it lightly with propane torch.

If the cooler is indeed an o ring fitting cooler then be very careful using NTP fittings in them. The NTP is tapered and it is very easy to tighten them enough to split the fitting in the cooler.I did it to one of mine.

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but would this “click” into the Allison cooler? If not, does anyone know what size I need to search for a like-item that would click in? TNX

If you have some old transmission cooler lines, you can make some adapters with some weld on bungs.
