I have a 2011 Denali 3500HD srw and currently tow a cedar creek that weighs about 12,000 dry and a hitch weight of 2389. Truck squats a little but tows just fine. I am looking to move up to a toy hauler but worried about the weight. The one I am looking at weighs about 15-16000 dry and a hitch weight of 3100-3500 lbs. Think my tires are rated at 3600 lbs each. I am planning on getting airbags to level it but aid the weight be ok for my truck? I'm more worried about the hitch weight than anything else.

That's a lot of pin weight for that light of a trailer. Mine is only 2500lbs on a 15k trailer

That's more than 20%. I think that's a bit on the high side as well but you're fine. The towing capacity is a bit over 17k I think and a payload of over 4K so you're in the clear either way.

Its a toy hauler and they are usually more pin weight. I want to contact the company cause some are setup that when its loaded it reduces the pin weight.

Some toy haulers have generators in the front which adds to the tongue weight. That could be where they are getting that high number. It will should be several hundreds lbs lighter in tongue weight without a genset.

A gen set doesn't weight that much. My trailer is a toy hauler as well with a 5500 in the front, both 7.5 gal propane tanks, 160gal water tank, front bed room slide out, and so on. Only thing behind the axle is a 40 gal fuel tank, spare, back bunks and toys

All I can figure is it's an older model that's fully loaded down with the old school style wall builds.

The only thing ill really be hauling is a dirtbike and some tools so can't reduce pin weight much. I want to call manufacturer cause what if i have water and grey tanks full, how much would that add plus I want to find out if i can put diesel in the fuel tank instead of gas.

go throw it on a certified cat scale. run your truck across it without the trailer first, then throw it all on.
