Hi everyone...

We are proud to announce our 3rd generation digital DSP-5 switches!

The 3rd generation digital DSP-5 switches build off of the 2nd generation switches with several new features listed below:

Display fades on at startup for a smoother/nicer look.

Display can be configured to automatically dim at night time. What this means is that when your headlights turn on at night, the display automatically dims for easy night time view. You can still dim the display during the day manually like the older switches, just now its automatic/linked to the headlights.

The "automatically dim at nighttime" feature can be turned on/off of course if you dont want the display to automatically dim at night.

Ability to turn the display OFF completely. If you are driving at night and want the display and button backlighting off completely, you can now easily turn it off. The DSP-5 switch is still "on" and active in the background, just the display gets turned off. In this "blackout" mode, if you press the "up" or "down" button to change turns, the display automatically turns back on for several seconds so you can see which tune you are changing to. After several seconds of button inactivity (IE, after you changed tune and leave the buttons alone), the display then smoothly fades back to "off".

The biggest feature of all though is that the 3rd gen switches are all plug and play. You no longer have to tap into separate +12volt ignition power and ground!! Just insert the pins on the DSP-5 switch harness into the appropriate pin positions on the ECM connectors and away you go. No more digging around under the dash trying to find a +12 volt ignition wire and ground wire!

The DSP-5 switch wiring harnesses are all pre-wired with the proper ECM pins, and the back of the DSP-5 switch has its own connector so its easy to run wires, etc.

The switches have gone down in price too; original price was $175, now the current price is $149. :thumb:

Thanks
Ben

Sounds awesome, Ben. I have a question about the auto dimming feature. Does it dim up and down with the dimmer switch, or does it just drop to a preset level when you turn the headlights on?

It dims to a preset level when the headlights are on.

Can the preset level be adjusted, or is it fixed?

Yes I could definitely re-write the software to allow you to set which level it dims to when the headlights turn on!

Great idea Josh, Ill work on that tomorrow and post an update. :thumb:

Very cool!

Have you even remotely looked into doing these for the Dodge CSP-5?!?! If you can make em run off the ECM like these & CSP works the same way DSP does, man you'd more than double your market!

Alright guys, good news...I spent a couple hours re-writing the code/firmware for the DSP-5 switches and now you have full control over the display night time auto-dimming, as Josh suggested.

You can have the auto dimming at night feature disabled completely.

You can have the auto dimming feature enabled, and you can also program which brightness level you want the gauge to automatically dim to when you turn the lights on. So you can set it to automatically dim just a little bit at night when the headlights turn on, or you can set it to dim all the way...you choose!

There are 5 different levels of brightness.

There is a 6th "brightness level" that just turns the display off completely. The DSP switch is still "on" in the background, just the display is off. If you press an up or down button to change tunes, the display momentarily turns on for a couple seconds so you can see which tune you are changing to...and then it automatically fades back to "off".

When you are in headlights on "automatic dim" mode...you can still manually override the brightness level normally by pressing both up and down buttons simultaneously. So if the gauge is automatically dimmed at night time, and for some reason you want to then make the display even dimmer, or turn the display off completely, or make it go full bright, you can temporarily override the "automatic" feature. It will reset (the auto dim feature) your "manual override" next time the headlights are cycled off then on again.

All of the existing features carry over as well...

You can program the switch to remember what tune you left it in at shut down, or you can set it to always start at "1".

You can program it to do reverse tune order, if your tuner sets up your DSP-5 tunes in reverse order.

You can program it for LB7/LLY mode or LBZ/LMM mode without having to manually change voltage values in the EFILive tune.

The valet trigger lets you wire a secret toggle switch under the dash to lock the switch in the stock tune. You can also set the switch to lock and prevent the truck from starting altogether, if you just change your "stock" tune in EFILive to a no-start tune.
