My 15' 6.2l is up to 69k miles and the last 5-7k it's been making a swishing or pressure bypassing sound when the converter locks and I get a shutter once in a great while when giving it gas, was curious what your thoughts were, flush fluid or converter going out? Bone stock minus air filter and intake tube.

They are known for having converter problems. I hate the one in my truck. Ask James Carter about it. It is the worst trans I have ever driven.

Asked about it on here and mentioned warranty and it quit today, lol, my luck. Thanks again Mike and James
Hopefully if shops are bad out there they just put a trans in it for you. Especially if this is the 8L90 in your truck. If tech has never been into one they don’t know about all the updates and changes. It’s not listed in GM service information either.

Hopefully, it started making the sound again this morning, so I'll take it in and have it looked at, got a couple recalls need fixed anyhow

That's the problem around here, not very msny good shops or dealerships close, I'll see if I can do a vin check and see how long the warrant is good and ask around for a good shop

based on the VIN ran, they already tried the new fluid (possibly the additive) early on in the trans life.

The fluid for the 8 speed was revised about 3 times. Claimed first batches were hygroscopic. We never were instructed to put in any additive. Just fluid exchange.

I'm gonna figure out the noise first, my guess is converter issue since it only makes the noise when it locks, window has to be down to hear it, if it's going, I'll slap one in it, can't do cam and stuff right now, oilfield money days are gone for a while, gotta save til things need fixing for now
