this has been a great read . nice work finding the issue and posting all your results. this is what forums are for . no one was even close on guessing the culprit, doubt thats happened many times before on any duramax, reman or stock.
Please tell us what tools you used to figure this out. I suspect that few if any readers would have the time or $$ to be able to do the analysis you did at the shop.
