Default The Rebuild, Ch.2 -- Building slowly

A picture says a thousand words:

Here goes, guys and gals. Wish me luck. Dont expect "Nell-like" speed, though. This will take a while. Thanks to Durallymax and Larry for their guidance. Vince, I took lots of pics for you.

BTW, what size is the flywheel allenheads? 9/16"? I have to go buy some new tools.

You'll be fine! You've got the ability and plenty of good folks close enough or on here to help when you need it.

X2 that's the size. That and a very strong and long breaker bar or a very strong impact gun.

Thanks guys. Yeah, it'll all work out. So, Harbor Freight here I come.

Took about 12 hours over two days for me to pull the motor. Darius stopped by and helped for a couple hours Saturday, and my son came out for a couple hours and helped on Sunday. Only had two mishaps, broken bolt in motor mount (frame) and didnt unbolt the fuel line bracket (whoops -- I hope those lines arent broke). So far, havent found anything out of the ordinary (flywheel and flexplate are fine, no cracks).

Thanks for the advice on the flywheel bolts. I know for a fact my air gun wont be up to that task. They're torqued to around 200ft/lbs, arent they?

Buy a very good 14mm and bar and get a pipe. You will also want a piece of steel about 5' and match it up to the adapter housing holes drill it and get some bolts and nuts and have someone hold the motor with that for you. There well over 200ft/lbs.

X10 good luck Tom, will be interesting to follow your Build,

The way you are doing is prob the way i'd have too, in the garage with no lift.

Gets " fun" crawling all around unbolting things doesnt it?? LOL

You can do it!
