Default Built Motor

I just bought a built motor from a guy on DP. It was a deal that I couldn't resist. The motor has Socal Stage 1 heads, Comp Cam Stage 1 cam, Crower rods, LB7 cut and coated pistons with a 16.8:1 ratio, and Socal pushrods. I am going to replace the ARP headstuds with the 625 headstuds. I was planning on removing the oil pan and checking for anything that looks unusual. Is there anything that I should double check besided the bottom portion of the block?

The motor has 20K on it. The motor is missing the turbo and injectors. He let the motor go for less then 9K. If I sale my motor that is in my truck I could have a built motor for 6 - 7K. That's not bad at all if you ask me.

Wow! Nice!

What are your plans for the turbo(s) and injectors?

You did get a deal. I stared at the screen for a week on that thread trying to make my decision. I almost picked it up.

who was the builder ? there is plenty i would be suspect of but for the price you got it it should be OK even if something happened , there is really too much to check with out totally disassembling the motor , I would just stick it in and cross your fingers Congrats man , you can finally crank that think up and take advantage of those turbo's

I will keep the current turbos. I am planning on going with BigDipper injectors. I am not totally sure which ones yet. I would like to do 100% over, but my truck is a daily driver. So that probally wont happen.

LOL Yeah I hear you. It took me a while to make a decision. Only time will tell if it was a right decision.

QMP was the shop that assembled and balanced the block. They are out of Southern California. They build race engines. I believe everything was done to Socal Specs.

Thank you!

Congrats. I saw that thread also. Personally I would keep your stock motor but that's just me. My motor came with regular ARP's and I was thinking I should change them also. Can you just change them bolt for bolt and not have to take the head off? This money thing is never ending.

It was a good deal, I can't believe it took that long to sell honestly.

If I wasn't buying a LML, I would of bought it the day I came across it.

yeah, I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did - the sale that is. If I had the money, it woulda been on it's way to KY! You definitely scored on that one IMO!!

And from the looks and sounds of it, the guy wasn't one to cut corners and seemed honest about everything. Sounded like the engine was built well with good parts.

Congrats!!

My understanding is yes you can replace each one one at a time. Thats my plan anyways.

I am still trying to decide what I am going to do with the block. I have a 69 Chevelle that needs to be restored. I was thinking about putting that block in there, but I will have to store the block for a few years. So we will see.

I was watching that thread for a while. I was really surprise the engine didn't sell faster then it did as well.

Thank you! The guy sounded like he did it right the first time. He has been honest with me so far. Great Guy!
